Painful Lower Back?

When you have lower back pain you will be advised to strengthen your core. That doesn’t however mean to do sit ups which could increase the pressure on your lumbar spine and further exacerbate the initial flare up. You actually need to improve your transverses abdominus strength. This is a deep abdominal muscle which directly supports your lumbar spine. People who experience episodes of lower back pain can have very weak transverses abdominus that essentially equates to a lack of support and stability of the spine when completing everyday tasks, such as standing up from a lying position or picking something up and carrying it. Pilates will help you strengthen your TA!
